This year for the Rick Kent reunion my mom planned for us to go stay in Salt Lake City.... We started off by going to This Is The Place Monument Park, it was so AWESOME!! My mom packed a lunch for all of us & then we boarded the lil train & went to tour one of Brigham Young's houses. I thought it was pretty cool & I loved that the kids got to see how it was back then... They had lots of fun activities for the kids & a little petting zoo. If you haven't went you better plan a field trip, it's much better than the zoo. Then after that we went to our hotel & got cleaned up for dinner and then went back to the hotel to swim & relax!! Saturday morning dad took us to Little America for the buffet & it was OUTSTANDING!! The little kids thought it was so COOL!! And I love walking in to places w/ my whole big family & everyone stares.... & says WOW is that one family!! :) YEP!! One BIG family!! After we ate we went to Temple Square & looked around & the kids loved playing upstairs @ the visitors center on the west side. It had a little kitchen, dancing & an ark. It was super cute to watch the little & even some of the bigger kids play.

Mr. Esplin was Maddi's 3rd grade teacher & we loved him!! She got lucky enough to have him again for 5th grade & we were so happy!! He helped make her last year @ McKinley one of the BEST!!

This year for our family vacation we went to Yellowstone over Memorial weekend. The last time we went to Yellowstone Maddi was a baby. We talked to a lot of people about the "best" time to see the most animals and everyone said to go in May or late September. So we went in May & it totally paid off! :) We went knowing it would still be cold, but I totally wasn't planing on FREEZING our bums off!! There was so much snow it was taller than our truck! We pulled our trailer house up and stayed right in the park @ Fishing Bridge. We had lots of fun touring around but it was so cold, we should of packed our snow gear... We woke up on Sunday morning & it was snowing like crazy!! And tons of people were packing up, but we were headed to Old Faithful. On the way there James & I got talking & decided we should go find out why everyone was leaving. We went to the hotel @ Yellowstone Lake & asked & they said that it was suppose to snow 10 to 12 inches that night!! We told them where we were camped & they said if we wanted to get out Monday morning we better go move to a camp ground that was closer to the entrance of the park. So we went back to our camper packed everything up & moved to Madison Campground near the West entrance. After we got all settled there, we went to Old Faithful. James & I had told Maddi & Kobe how awesome Old Faithful was & we had spoke to a guy who said we just had to get an ice cream @ Old Faithful. We were all prepared & planning on seeing the most awesome part of the park & getting the best ice cream.... Well it was so foggy & snowing that when Old Faithful went off you couldn't even really tell cause it just blended in w/ the fog :( Kind of a bummer.... So we go to the hotel & the lil shops around Old Faithful & start heading to get the ice cream & the power went off & they closed all the food services :( We were sad, but made the best of it & bought the kids a cookie:) After that we went to a few more sights & then headed back to camp to get dry & warm.... It was so much fun, just going w/ just US!! We got to see tons of buffalo & elk & 5 bears!! It was so COOL!! Kobe & I got out of the truck & got about 15ft. from a bear... It was AWESOME!! Maddi was too nervous to come w/ us, It was supper close but there were a lot of other people in front of us so I felt like it was pretty safe & I had to get a PICTURE!! :)
We will defiantly be planning another Yellowstone trip when it's a little warmer :)
