S.L.C

On March 18th we took Kobe to Primary Children's for his annual eye appt. I forgot my dang camera, but I just had a few thoughts I wanted to jot down....

On the way down we ate @ one of our favorite places the one & only In & Out :) and then we headed south to do a lil shopping and then to the hospital. Kobe's eye appt. went well and his eyes seem to be staying about the same:) So that's good! After we went to his appt. we went to Temple Square and toured around. We had been to see the lights a few times but never looked @ everything. I think we pretty much got to see everything but the church office building & the movie @ the Joseph Smith Building so that will have to be another trip:) I think the kids had fun and James and I enjoyed ourselves too. But I must add my favorite part was dinner:) We ate @ the Loin House & it was OUTSTANDING!!

I'm grateful for opportunities like this to be able to be w/ my family and learn more about the gospel. Even though I have been a member all my life there are still so many things that I don't understand. I'm also grateful for a husband who has a strong testimony and a very good understanding of the gospel. I love watching and teaching my kids and hope that they will be able to grow and love the gospel. I'm thankful for the opportunities we have to listen to the teachings of the prophet and the strength that they give me to help over come trials that I face.

Now on a whole other note... My son is one CrAzY kid as I have mentioned a million times over:) Over the last six months he has had this thing for hobo's and I don't know if that's a good thing... Dustin & Easton were hobo's for Halloween and ever since all Kobe talks about is being a hobo. He had me cut the finger tips off a pair of those lil stretch gloves and then he got a hand me down camouflage coat from a lady Aunt Nena works with. He always wears his black beanie (@ school he & his friends are the "beanie bros" LOL) and then James came across an old camel pack of his when he started riding this winter and Kobe thought he needed it. So all of these things listed above are Kobe's hobo gear:) He is totally infatuated with being a hobo, it's starting to make me CRAZY!! When you ask your son what he wants to be when he grows up and he says a hobo, I think you better start to worry!

A while back Kobe was upset cause Maddi ALWAYS gets to do stuff and it isn't fair!! :( She was w/ Shay and James was gone riding so it was just me & him. So I took him to eat @ the "Mexican" a.k.a El Parral, after we ate we got in the car and he said how he wanted to just be a hobo, he was really sad. And I felt so bad cause it really isn't fair but boys just don't hang out & go & do stuff like girls do. I said well if you ran away & became a hobo you wouldn't be able to go out to eat, buy Lego's, snug your mom, or do anything fun. I said you wouldn't have any place to sleep and you would be frozen. I said you'd have no money for food or anything, by this time we were about to pass Kent's and he said yes I would I would have money and I said where would you get it? He said down there and I said where? He said @ Kent's. I said well how would you get money from Kent's? He said you know...loose change! (like duh mom) I said loose change? & he said yeah, you know when people drop there change in the parking lot! OMH!! So as you can tell he has this pretty thought out... He is so silly!

So while we were in Salt Lake we were getting off the free way and he says so isn't there a hobo center around here? James & I started laughing... We had a lil extra time so I told James to drive down by the homeless shelter so he could see all the "hobo's". I have driven my kids by the homeless shelter almost every time we go to Salt Lake. Because I like them to see how some people have to live, & I especially like them to see that when they think life sucks or they don't get or have much they could have it worse. Kind of another teaching/speech moment of mine:) or another time Kobe hated school and I told him that if he didn't go to school & get an education then he wouldn't be able to get a job and he might end up there. So any how.....We drove by and it breaks my heart and scares the poop out of me all @ the same time. And it also helps me to stop and think cause there are times I think life sucks, but there is always someone else who is suffering far worse.... Kobe was pretty impressed by the people, we started heading up 400 S. and by some of the city buildings I saw a few "hobo"s" sitting on a bench and I said look there are some more and I think that the one is even dead! He and Maddi perked up and sure enough there was a man laying down on the bench and his friends were trying to hold him up and were tapping him on the face and pulling his eyes open and I said I really think he is dead. It was sad, I feel bad that some people really live like that. So then it brought us to another subject of who they are and where their family is and where or who would bury them.

So let's just say this trip to S.L.C. was a learning/ teaching moment for all of us.....

And I hope my son chooses NOT tobe a hobo :) :)

I don't have a picture of Kobe in all his gear but in the post below he has most of it on when he is shooting his gun:)
